The Quran inimitable grammatical style makes it difficult to translate, even for Arabic scholars. This is due to the fact, not only are many of its words used in a different context than the earlier Arabs were accustomed to, but some were new words added to the Arabic vocabulary. In addition, this unique grammatical style was highly advance for its time and why one of the reason it became the par excellence among all other Arabic grammar. Had it not been the case, then the Arabic linguists would have met the Quran challenge to produce a similar Surah . Indeed, due its richness in layers of meaning of words only recently due advancement of scientific research we are able to grasp its meaning.
With that in mind one could now easily comprehend why early Arabic scholars were not in a position to fully interpret some of its usage of words e.g "kitab".
"A. L. R. (This is) a Kitab (recording), with verses basic or fundamental (of established meaning), further explained in detail,- from One Who is Wise and Well-acquainted (with all things):

Perhaps is because it was easier for them to just say "kitab" means book since they cannot wrap around their mind how Allah words could be recorded on any form of matter and no necessarily just on papers. So "kitab" would therefore represent any form of particles that stored the words of Allah containing information so as to be observed by man/woman.
Though the Quran is based on Classical Arabic, its grammar was still different than the way the early Arabs were using e.g some words may have had an Arabic origin, but the Quran usage was completely different e.g the word “kawkabun, (24:35) normally translated as a bright star. This word (24:35) is obviously very difficult to be interpreted even for Arabic speakers, but as time goes by information is increasing and people become more knowledgeable to understand certain natural phenomena. This also means people will observe the deeper layers of the Quran as time moves forward (in quantum mechanics: as information increases in the universe).
Moreover, the rule as to when a word is feminine applies only when it relates to women, but the problem arises if the the early Islamic scholars do not understand the way the certain new Arabic words in the Quran was used, they would defer the word to be masculine. However, as scientists are now able to interpret the deeper inner workings of fertilization, it also should to shed light on certain verses of the Quran when it relates to fertilization of a woman.
Now obviously since only a woman could get pregnant, whenever the Quran is referring the beginning stages of the creation of man/woman (ihsaaan), its grammar should be referred to as feminine. And this initial process began at when a woman reaches ovulation during her monthly cycle once her germ cell (23 X chromosomes) ovulates and is ejected by fluids down the fallopian tube.
"So let man consider from what he is created.
He is created from a gushing fluid.
Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs:
Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life)"
So at this point since the ovum containing 23 X chromosomes, the Arabic grammar at this point would be feminine since it strictly applies to a woman. At fertilization her germ cell now gets fertilized with two pairs (in Arabic “zawj) of chromosomes (nutfa), with either 23 y chromosomes (baby is a boy), or 23 X chromosomes (baby then becomes a girl) from a man- a total now of 46 chromosomes. At this point the full DNA double helix is formed (46 chromosomes) with a fertilized egg, which the Quran referred to as "nutfa".
In fact it is translators who made the mistake by referring to this initial process as from a man and not the Quran. In fact, the Quran correctly stated in Surah 86, that after ovulation that the fertilized egg is now located between the pelvis bone and rib cage of a pregnant mother.
So it is not just a man who ejects liquid, but also a woman's body ejects fluid except the process is internally. Also, this Surah (85:5) states where humans (both man and woman) are developed, so obviously this means in a woman's body. But early scholars did not possess such knowledge and incorrectly attributes this phenomenon to be of a man.
Subhanallah (Glory be to Allah)
